Cinderella Wedding Reception Food Ideas

Your wedding menu can be composed of what we call as princess dishes, which are basically fare that reminds us of popular princesses - dishes with apple (Snow White) and peas (The Princess and the Pea), spaghetti or any long strand pastas (this remind us of Rapunzel's hair!), and an assortment of seafood dishes(Little Mermaid) are just a few examples.

But if you like princesses but not in your food, serving veal, mutton, or other popular game meats like turkey, deer, duck, rabbits, etc can be another approach to your menu. You can turn them into meat kabobs, an appetizer or two, a gourmet sandwich or an entree. You might also want to add some specialty food like sweetbreads, foie gras, and caviar, since those are definitely fit for royalty.

Time to bring out your silverware and glassware, since there's something quite majestic about them, elements that are MUST Haves on any Cinderella wedding. If you have a chalice or something similar, now's a good time to bring them out and put them into good use.

For your wedding cake, a castle-shaped cake, a cake which comes in the shape of Cinderella's pumpkin carriage, or a glorious pink cake will be perfect. You can also just get an ordinary wedding cake and just place Cinderella and her prince or a pumpkin coach cake topper to turn it into its perfect theme-based counterpart.

Your royal guests definitely deserve a glass or two of fine wine so be sure to serve some. Serving pumpkin drinks or pink punch is also a good idea since pumpkin and pink drinks are definitely welcome on any Cinderella or princess wedding food repertoire.

Country Wedding Reception Food Ideas

We think a barbecue buffet is great for any country wedding, so if you love the idea as well, make sure you arrange it with your caterer. This should already take care of your main course, from chicken, beef, pork, seafood, and maybe even vegetables, if you prefer to add them to your repertoire.

Fresh food are MUST Haves on any country wedding, so the freshest and ripest veggies and fruits should be part of your appetizer and dessert. Comfort food like baked beans, mashed potato, baked potato and the like are great additions to your barbecue fare, and if your wedding location boast of delicacies that will be nice additions to what you have so far, we suggest you add them in.

Depending on what season you plan to have your great outdoor wedding, you might need to single out cold food especially if you are in the midst of a hot season. So this means seafood cocktails like shrimp and oyster are great candidates. Cheese, crackers with some cool spreads, carrot and celery sticks with dips are also worth considering. Fresh fruits are great and refreshing especially during the summer so you will definitely want them as part of your menu. You can then conclude your meal with some cakes, pastries and other cold desserts.

Your wedding cake can be a white layered cake which can come with flowers and grain stalks design. Another option is to have it come in brown and white, and with some western elements like a pair of boots, horseshoe, and the like. We also saw a cake designed to look like a bale of hay, which we think is fantastic! Of course, you can go for an ordinary layered cake and just find the right cake topper to express your theme. We think a cowboy and his girl cake topper is quite nice, but if you’re having one custom-made, the bride inside a wheelbarrow with the groom handling it is quite cool and fun, so we’re pitching that in!

Ale and beer should be abundant, but make sure you have fresh fruit juice and shake for those who prefer to keep a clear head for your main event. And to make sure everyone, even those who splurged a bit, will keep a clear head, make sure you serve tons of coffee. That should be a nice conclusion to your wonderful country buffet!

Daisy Wedding Reception Food Ideas

Fresh salads and other cold food is a good idea, especially if you're having a hot summer wedding.

If you absolutely love Japanese food and think your guests will appreciate them, then you might want to think of adding fresh sushi, maki and cold noodles in what you have prepared so far.

Another option is to prepare food popularly served on picnics. This means fried chicken, finger sandwiches, chips and the like are welcome to your table. Sprinkling your food choices with right amount of yellow dishes like corn cob, potato salad, fruits like pineapple and banana, etc, will accentuate your chosen theme, which is of course a good thing.

For your wedding cake, a cake designed with the right amount of yellow accents and flowers (read daisy) will be perfect. If you prefer it, you can also just get an ordinary wedding cake and just place a butterfly cake topper to turn it into a perfect theme-based wedding cake.

To wash that wonderful meal down, serve some fresh fruit juice and shakes, especially something that comes in the yellow color. But be sure to serve some summer cocktails for those who prefer more zing to their drinks.

Fall Wedding Reception Food Ideas

With lots of fruits and veggies thriving or being harvested during autumn, lack of food choices is not going to be a problem if you’re going for this particular wedding theme.

Serving dishes that includes pumpkin, corn, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, green beans, eggplant and other fall veggies as one of the major ingredients are very welcome on any fall wedding. So are cranberries, grapes,  or apples for your dessert.

Another approach on your wedding food is to serve dishes that are popularly served during thanksgiving. This means roast turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean salad, corn on cob, apple pie, pumpkin pie and the like are also part of your menu candidates.

There’s really no rule that says you need to pick one approach over the other, so if you think a combination of both will please your and your guests’ palate better, then you must go for it.

For your wedding cake, a cake designed with fruits or flowers in mind will be perfect. If you want a plain cake, then something that comes in one or a combination of the fall colors is something you can consider.

You have tons of options on what drink to serve your guests, since anything from pumpkin to apple juice can be part of your repertoire. But since this is a wedding party, serving some good wine is appropriate and very theme-based (grapes are harvested during fall), and so are fruit cocktails featuring one of the season’s fruits. That should take care of guests who prefer to give you a toast with something with more zing than your plain old pumpkin juice.

Fishing Wedding Reception Food Ideas

As a general rule, a Gone Fishing theme demands a repertoire of freshness, from your main course to dessert.

Serving trout and other of your favorite catches will be expected when you’re going for this particular wedding theme. But if you want to include other seafood superstars like crab and shrimps, that will also be fine. And lastly, having a gone fishing theme should not stop you from serving meat dishes, since it’s greatly possible that some of your guests might not love fish as much as you and your groom do.

For your wedding cake, a cake with underwater design will be cool. You can also go for a cake with some blue accents since that will also be fine. But feel free to get an ordinary wedding cake, as long as you properly adorn it with a fishing-based cake topper. That should turn your ordinary cake into its perfect theme-based counterpart.

Simply-cooked trout dishes are perfect with white wine so make sure you serve the best wine that will taste good with your fish and other seafood dishes. Just keep in mind the general rule when choosing wines, the wine should not overpower your food and vice versa.  If you want to serve beverages of the non-alcoholic variety, serving some fresh fruit shake should do the trick.

Garden Wedding Reception Food Ideas

Fresh salads and other cold food is a good idea, especially if you're having a hot summer wedding.

If you absolutely love Japanese food and think your guests will appreciate them, then you might want to think of adding fresh sushi, maki and cold noodles in what you have prepared so far.

Another option is to prepare food popularly served on picnics. This means fried chicken, potato salad, finger sandwiches, chips and the like are welcome to your table. If those ideas are not yet enough, then  you can also serve dishes that comes in green color. Pesto, salads, and green tea cake are just a few examples.

For your wedding cake, a cake designed with tons of butterflies in all shapes and sizes will be perfect. A greenish cake will also work well for this particular theme. You can also just get an ordinary wedding cake and just place a butterfly cake topper to turn it into a perfect theme-based wedding cake.

You can serve some fresh fruit juice and shakes to wash all that wonderful meal down, but be sure to serve some summer cocktails for those who prefer some zing in their drinks.

Golf Wedding Reception Food Ideas

Eat healthy, that is how you should plan your golf-themed wedding menu. The good news is, eating healthy nowadays doesn’t necessarily mean eating tasteless food. Since most people are more health conscious nowadays, you wouldn’t have any problem finding the right caterer to suit your needs. If you’re going for this approach, expect to serve lovely salads, tasty vegetable soup, and maybe some grilled fish or your favorite grilled meat. The cool thing about going for healthy food means serving lots of food in green color, which makes them extra perfect for your golf wedding!

We also think serving round appetizers/snacks and dessert will be great additions. These can include (but are not limited to) meatballs, round cheeses, devilled eggs, crab cakes, and of course some mini cupcakes, cookies, round tarts and so on. If you’re up to it, you can even use golf tees (make sure they’re clean) to present these food instead of using your usual toothpicks and forks.

Want more variety to your wedding menu? We think that adding noteworthy dishes from your favorite 19th hole will be quite fitting. Or better yet, just have them do your wedding food and be done with it.

For your wedding cake, a greenish cake or one with enough green accent will be a good wedding cake candidate. If you want to go for a plain cake, just add the right cake topper to it (there are lots of golf-themed cake toppers that are ready for purchase on your favorite wedding-related store) to make it the perfect cake for your golf wedding.

Be sure to serve some draft beer for those who like them that way instead of the bottled kind. Martinis, wine and other 19th hole favorites of you, your groom and your friends are definitely welcome. Complete the experience with some nice cigars for those who prefer to blow some cloud. That should be a nice conclusion to your wonderful wedding meal.

Green Wedding Reception Food Ideas

Natural, fresh and organic. Those are the qualities of the food you must serve if you’re going for a green wedding.

Since many stores are carrying organic products and there are lots of organic catering services, going for an eco-friendly wedding is not synonymous to unsatisfying fare. And if you happen to be a meat lover who can only tolerate a wee bit of salad, no worries since going for a green wedding won’t just limit you to “rabbit food”, since your choice of lamb, chicken, beef and fish entrees are still fitting to your wedding theme.

Make sure you serve your dishes on reusable or biodegradable plates. You can either go for printed plates or just go for more solid designs. Just ensure that your plates do not clash with your other table decoration.

A white cake with green accents is what you want for your Go Green wedding. It can come in plain design or with flowery ones.  A round one is more traditional, but there are lots of modern cake designs nowadays and many are just a few google away.

You can go for traditional wines served in weddings. But we think adding some fruit wine (other than grapes) like fermented apple or pineapple are definitely worth looking at.

Las Vegas Wedding Reception Food Ideas

Vegas is definitely a great place if you’re looking for something to eat, since it offers almost anything under the sun, your typical steak, Japanese, Chinese, what have you. So if you’re having a Vegas wedding and you don’t want to go through the bother of getting a caterer or a separate reception place, then we suggest just reserving a restaurant with a good ambiance and great food (cuisine will depend on what you think you and your guests will enjoy) or if you prefer a classier place, a hotel is worth looking at, since you can use one of their rooms for your event’s location and their kitchen should be equipped to serve wonderful meals.

Vegas is definitely THE wedding state, and aside from having slot machines on each corner, businesses offering wedding packages are all over the place. When getting a package, just make sure that it does not just involve the wedding itself (there might be reason why it’s that cheap!), but the reception location and the food as well.

Since Vegas is a pretty humid state, we think that going for “cold” and refreshing food is a MUST, especially if you’re having a hot summer wedding. This means salads, sandwiches, shrimp cocktails, cold cuts, cold noodles, and the like are something you can consider. We will leave the main course to you, since you can go for your typical Italian, Chinese food and your favorite roasted meats and you will be fine. For your dessert, although cold dessert are preferable, if you want to serve hot tea or coffee as your meal concludes, that should also be OK. However, since you can enjoy these cold as well, be sure to ask your guests for their preference.

Even if you plan to have a grand reception at home, having a celebration meal right after your wedding ceremony is still a MUST. Since the number is quite small, we think you can indulge a bit, and go for something more special even if a wee bit pricier.

Depending on how big your reception at home is, you can just choose to have some food delivered from your favorite Chinese place, have a local caterer prepare your food, or just leave everything to your hotel’s kitchen, if that is where you’re having your reception. Although you’re not required to serve the lot (at least if you prefer not to), serving one or more of these should satisfy your need for something theme-based:  a heart-shaped pizza (with heart-shaped toppings!), diamond-shaped ravioli, spade-shaped egg on top of your Salisbury steak, clover-shaped croutons on your favorite soup, some cupcakes with diamond, heart, spade, or clover icings/designs.

For your wedding cake, the presence of the four suits as part of the design or as a cake topper will stress to everyone of your Vegas-based theme. We also saw a roulette-design cake and we think that’s cool as well. However, we are great fans of giving traditional cakes a pass to replace it with cascading cupcakes instead, since those cupcakes, which should come with an icing or design of one of the card suits, will also make a wonderful takeaway gift for your guests and friends!

Your event must be oozing with booze. What can we say, we think that Las Vegas and good wine already go together on normal days, and for something as special as your wedding, there should be a lot more!

Luau Wedding Reception Food Ideas

Eating fresh seafood is definitely one of the benefits of having a luau wedding and thus, your menu must include the best of the best of seafood dishes. You can serve the sea superstars, from lobsters to shrimp as your appetizers or part of your entrée. However, if you feel like adding some grilled meats in your wedding menu, that should also be fine.

Coconut and pineapple dishes should be available on any luau menu, so pineapple fried rice and coconut shrimps are very welcome. Kalua pork and laulau are just some of the more popular Hawaiian dishes, and thus are great candidates as well.

Another way to approach your theme-based menu is to serve some of the more popular local fare. One of the fun things of having destination weddings is tasting your destination’s delicacies and we bet your guests and friends will appreciate this different food experience.

We love the idea of serving your dishes in coconut shells since that will really accentuate your chosen theme. If your guests are up to it, they could also eat their meal from Ti leaves, instead of plates, and with all that wonderful seafood dishes, eating with bare hands is very much suggested.

For your wedding cake, a cake designed with the different luau elements in mind will be perfect. You can also get an ordinary wedding cake and just place a palm tree cake topper to turn it into a perfect luau-themed wedding cake.

You can serve some fresh coconut juice or other tropical fruit juice to wash all that wonderful meal down, but be sure to serve some cocktails for those who prefer more zing to their drinks. To make their drinking experience more luau-like, drinking from tiki cups is highly recommended.

Mexican Wedding Reception Food Ideas

The good thing about having a Mexican wedding is that your wedding food is the least of your problems. Mexican food usually means rice, beans, tortilla, salsa, chicken and beef. This can mean burritos, tacos, chili con carne, stuffed chilis, but other popular Mexican dishes like lengua (beef tongue) are also very welcome.

Serving dishes wherein avocados play a great role will also work well with your chosen theme and thus are worth adding.

Be sure to include churros and some thick chocolate to satisfy your guests' sweet tooth, since this is a common fare included in any Mexican party repertoire. But if you want to go beyond these, we found this Mexican Fiesta Menu that you might want to look at.

A Mexican wedding cake means rum-soaked fruitcake with pineapple and pecans. Feel free to decorate your cake according to your chosen motif and adding some cake topper (using popular Mexican elements) in the picture.

You can serve some avocado shake or lime punch, but be sure to serve some sangria, margarita and tequila for the rest of your guests who prefer more zing on their drinks when they finally drink to your and your new hubby’s happiness.
